Malaemie is a strong advocate for Pacifica communities in Western Sydney and her recent work with the Pacific Seasonal Programs has helped her to build strong networks in regional NSW.

In 2021, she received an Order of the Medal of Australia, in recognition of her contributions to the Campbelltown community.

Malaemie is a long-standing member of several advisory councils, including the Police Multicultural Advisory Council, Parramatta Powerhouse Advisory Council, Pacific Collections Advisory Council Australian Museum, The NSW Office of Sports Multicultural Advisory Council and the Women’s Advisory Council Blacktown City Council.

As a highly engaged community organiser, Malaemie has brought her skills and experience working with communities at the grassroots level to inform best practice in cultural competency across the education, community, and government sectors.

She is currently Manager of the Southwest Multicultural and Community Centre, and Chair of the NSW Council for Pacific Communities.
