Our multicultural community
NSW is one of the most culturally diverse states in the world. More than two million of our citizens were born overseas, and our people come from more than 310 cultures, speak more than 283 languages and practice 139 religions.
We are proud of our strong, diverse population and celebrate our unique differences that make up the rich tapestry of NSW culture. Through understanding our communities, we can deliver improved services, make better use of our cultural and linguistic resources and be more cohesive and resilient in response to challenges.

Multicultural March
Multicultural March is a NSW State Government initiative promoting community harmony within one of the most culturally diverse states in the world. Harmony Week is a national celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Harmony Week runs from 20 – 26 March.
