Multicultural Outcomes Reporting Framework

The Multicultural Outcomes Reporting Framework assists agencies to embed multicultural planning within core business operations.

Introducing the Multicultural Outcomes Reporting Framework

In recognition of the diversity of our state, NSW has enshrined multicultural principles into law for all NSW public authorities to bring to life, under the Multicultural NSW Act 2000.

The Multicultural Outcomes Reporting Framework (the Framework) replaces the program previously known as the Multicultural Policies and Services Program (MPSP). The MPSP was refreshed after an internal review with NSW government stakeholders in 2024-25.

The revised Framework aids the NSW Government in observing and implementing the Multicultural Principles within their operations.

The Framework includes outcomes across four key focus areas.

Focus Areas Outcomes
Accessible Services Barriers are removed for all people to engage with policies and access programs and services, enabling them to harness the strengths they bring to NSW.
Tailored Planning Policies, programs and services embed considerations of cultural, linguistic, or religious diversity in planning.
Effective Engagement and Communication The needs of people are understood and engagement in policy, programs and services is demonstrated.
Active Leadership Leadership champions and embeds a culturally inclusive workplace across their operations.

Benefits of the refreshed Framework

When the Framework is implemented, the individuals and communities of our diverse State can benefit as:

  • Reporting is simplified and standardised;
  • Qualitative and quantitative data collection is improved;
  • Multicultural planning considerations are embedded and monitored across government; and
  • Trust is built between NSW Government and community.
