Many people in our community continue to be impacted by ongoing overseas conflicts and we acknowledge the pain our communities in NSW are experiencing. We demonstrate our resilience as a multicultural society when we show compassion for those hurting and support each other in times of need.

Multicultural NSW continue to work with the Faith Affairs Council, COMPLAN partners and NSW agencies to help maintain community harmony. Through our work at Multicultural NSW, we show solidarity and reinforce our shared commitment to fostering mutual respect and understanding during these difficult times.

Showing compassion and supporting community harmony are perhaps more important than ever before, and we all have a role to play. If you hold a festival that builds social cohesion and celebrate cultural diversity, we encourage you to apply for a Stronger Together Festival and Event Grant. Make your submission before 11 October.

Do you know people or organisations who have made a major contribution to making NSW a harmonious community? Please nominate them for a Multicultural Community Medal or to be placed on the Multicultural Honour Roll. You have until 6 October to nominate.

Finally, Happy International Translation Day! Last week we launched the Multilingual NSW Academy at our International Translation Day event held at NSW Parliament House (pictured). The Academy brings together partnerships with leading education institutions to provide tailored professional development for our interpreters and translators when working on NSW Government assignments.

At the event, we also recognised three interpreters for their 40 years of service with Multicultural NSW Language Services. Congratulations and thank you for your long-standing dedication, Neena Sinha, Songsri Foran and Czeslaw Olechnowicz.

Until next month, please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.
