It has been wonderful to see so many of you turn out at events throughout Multicultural March. I’m always heartened to see how communities come together across NSW to learn about and share in each other’s traditions and cultures, especially during challenging times.

From Lakemba Nights during Ramadan to the Holi Festival, Sydney Korean Festival, Nowruz, Ukifest, Assyrian New Year, and Orange Harmony Day, this month showcased the best of our multicultural community.

To cap it off, we brought together 1,600 guests from different cultures and faiths at the Premier’s Harmony Dinner. As NSW’s largest multicultural gathering, this year’s event carried particular significance as we paid tribute to the community members who were killed in the Bondi attack.

As always, the dinner was also an opportunity for inspiration as we recognised community hero Ahmed Al Ahmed, acknowledged the legacies of the Honour Roll inductees, and celebrated the incredible Multicultural Medal Winners.

As Multicultural March draws to a close, these moments reinforce the importance of continuing to build belonging, connection and understanding across our diverse state throughout the year.

I wish a safe and happy Easter, Orthodox Easter, and Passover to everyone observing.
