It’s Refugee Week and this year’s theme is Finding Freedom: Family.
The focus is on those familial bonds and the chosen connections we make when faced with adversity. It’s a reminder of the role families play in providing essential support to those who are refugees or who have had refugee-like experiences.
At Multicultural NSW, we lead the NSW Government’s Settlement Strategy. Along with Professor Peter Shergold, the NSW Coordinator General of Settlement and colleagues across NSW Government departments, we are striving to improve settlement outcomes for people from refugee and refugee-like backgrounds living in NSW. You can read more about this work below.
In other news, earlier this year, we sought expressions of interest to fill vacancies on our Advisory Board. We received over 250 responses across NSW. On behalf of our Multicultural NSW Chairperson, Mr. Nick Kaldas APM, we are delighted to welcome Elfa Moraitakis and Janice Rodrigues as two new members. I look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with our Advisory Board to amplify the voices of diverse communities across NSW government. You can read more about Elfa and Janice here.
We are stronger together.
