I’m heartened by the NSW Government’s continued commitment to multiculturalism and community harmony, with Multicultural NSW’s budget secured for 2025-26. The investment allows our teams to continue their critical work in supporting the Government and community to make our state a vibrant, multilingual, connected and culturally diverse place to live, work and play.
We are currently developing our next strategic plan and engaging extensively with the community. Our aim is to ensure our work is informed by you and is relevant to a broad cross-section of people in NSW. Our Deputy CEO James Jegasothy and Director of Community Development Sandra Elhelw have been out and about across NSW running more than 14 consultation sessions and engaging more than 450 people. To find out more and share your feedback, please see the story below.
This month, we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week at our Parramatta office. This year’s theme honoured the strength of young Indigenous leaders, the vision of First Nations communities, and the enduring legacy of their ancestors. As part of Multicultural NSW’s ongoing Reconciliation Action Plan, our staff continue to engage in meaningful dialogue that recognises and celebrates the resilience, culture, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
I’m also happy to share that I’ve been reappointed as CEO of Multicultural NSW after a competitive application process. It’s a real honour to be entrusted to lead this agency, and I’m excited about what the future holds.
Stay warm,
Joseph La Posta
CEO
