We unequivocally condemn the recent acts of violence that have taken place in Sydney, particularly the deeply distressing incident in Eastgardens where a couple was assaulted in an unprovoked attack. We extend our support and well-wishes to the innocent victims of these crimes, who are from our Chinese and Asian communities.
Violence has no place in our society. These incidents have understandably left many in our community feeling vulnerable, especially in the Chinese and broader Asian Australian communities.
The NSW Police Force has taken swift and decisive action, with several individuals already arrested and charged in relation to these incidents. We urge everyone in the community to contact the police if you have any immediate concerns for your safety. The NSW Police Force is here to protect everyone and will help you.
- In an emergency please call 000.
- To bring a matter to the attention of the NSW Police Force, please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

We are a proudly multicultural society in New South Wales, a place where people from every part of the world can find their home and thrive. Every person in New South Wales has the right to feel safe, regardless of their culture or background.
We are very grateful for the contributions the Chinese Australian community and Chinese citizens in Australia have made to our State over a very long time and continue to make. The NSW Government is committed to ensuring New South Wales remains a place everyone feels safe, valued and respected.
We will continue to collaborate with NSW government departments, the community in NSW and the Chinese Consulate-General in Sydney to promote community harmony.
