Multicultural NSW Grants Programs
We invest in initiatives that foster community harmony, celebrate cultural diversity and build socially cohesive communities.
The more connected a community is, the stronger it is in the face of adversity. We want to help local communities connect and thrive. Multicultural NSW offers a range of grants to assist programs and activities that promote the vibrancy of NSW and celebrate our diverse communities.
Our grant programs empower communities across NSW to deliver:
• festivals and events that build social cohesion and community harmony
• grassroots community projects that will have a lasting community impact
• community-driven emergency relief activities.

Festival and Event Grants
The Festival and Event Grants program invests in community and aims to build social cohesion by supporting multicultural festivals and events across NSW.
The program seeks to fund festivals and events that engage with a broad range of communities, foster community harmony and celebrate cultural diversity as a precious part of our identity and way of life.
In 2021/22 more than 110 festivals and events were supported by Multicultural NSW grant funding.

Project Grants
We are stronger together when people from diverse cultural, linguistic and religious backgrounds work together on projects that make a difference.
The Multicultural NSW Project Grants program supports community projects that can make a lasting positive impact on social cohesion and meet a community need at the grassroots level.

Festival partnerships with Local Councils
The NSW calendar is filled with events and festivals that celebrate our cultural diversity.
The Stronger Together Local Council Major Festival grant provides funding for major festivals run by local Councils across NSW.

COMPACT Grants
Whether dealing with bushfires, floods, terrorism or a global pandemic, we know that more connected communities are more resilient to, and recover more quickly from, adversity and crisis. The COMPACT grants program supported partnerships and collaboration between community, non-government, youth, sports, arts/media, educational and other organisations by providing funding for innovative, evidence-based community projects.
Eligible organisations applied for community resilience grants for projects up to two years.

Safe Places for Faith Communities Program
In 2023, the NSW Government committed $15 million to support the safety and security of places of worship and other places where faith communities gather.
The Safe Places for Faith Communities Program provides grant funding for places of worship and other eligible places where faith communities gather regularly.
