House to Grow invites you to Spanish Flamenco Party
Ever wanted to learn the art of Flamenco/Spanish dance and taste some typical Spanish favourites?
Evoking passion, temperament and energy, flamenco is one of the most exhilarating art forms to witness, both in the visual and audible sense. With centuries of socio-cultural evolution, flamenco has a rich history, which unfolds with every stomp of the dancer’s feet, strum of the musician’s guitar and clap of the singer’s hands. In order to enjoy the flamenco of today, it might be useful though, to understand its origins, which are rooted in the gypsy culture of Andalusia, in the south of Spain.
Allow us to introduce you to this interesting dance from well known Zoe Velez and Lauren Majarres, including a taste of the 7 most famous types of flamenco: Sevillanas, Bulerias, Soleas, Alegrias, Seguiriyas, Fandangos, Tangos and Sevillanas classess, while tasting delicious traditional spanish snacks.
Zoe Velez a Uruguayan-Australian actress and singer, who specialises in flamenco. She’s one of the many people who worked with The Wiggles in 2005 as a Wiggly Dancer and as the blue Wiggle in The Latin American Wiggles.
Lauren Majarrés is Australia’s newly acclaimed, rising professional flamenco dancer, choreographer and teacher.
Having been a part of the flamenco scene here in Sydney for over 15 years and surrounded by her Spanish heritage, Lauren brings ‘Duende’ (Soul) and ‘Arte’ (Art) to the performance scene. Known for her impressive footwork and deep connection to the music, conveyed throughout her performances.
