The winner of the 2024 Not for Profit Business Excellence Medal is CASS Care.

This award recognises the outstanding achievements of a not for profit who has promoted diversity and inclusion in their programming.

CASS Care was established in 2002 to deliver services and activities with the goal of promoting diversity, inclusion, and harmony.

Its wide range of social and welfare services to multicultural communities caters to the needs from cradle to seniors, including childcare, residential aged care, home ageing, disability, settlement and health services, volunteering, vocation and training services.

With over 680 staff members and more than 350 active volunteers, CASS Care serves over 7,000 families in multicultural communities every week, including Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Malaysian, Singaporean, Vietnamese, and other backgrounds.

Currently, CASS Care runs 37 Seniors Activity Groups in Sydney. The holistic recreational, social, and fitness activities provided, empower seniors to live a happy and healthy life in Australia and improve their well-being.

Throughout the years, CASS Care has held multicultural celebrations such as Lunar New Year and the Moon Festival to promote harmony and foster mutual understanding.

Volunteers have been the bedrock of CASS since its inception and continue to be so today. CASS Care has established a unique volunteers’ management model tailored to multicultural communities and has successfully extended its reach to foster social inclusion throughout many multicultural communities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, CASS Care translated and shared information with multicultural communities, as well as information sessions to ensure they were well informed.

To maintain social connections during the pandemic, CASS Care volunteers assisted seniors in the community learning how to use their smartphones. Their service was recognised with the Pandemic Hero Award in 2021, and the Local Volunteer Award in 2022.

CASS Group Foundation Chairperson and Honorary Executive Director, Mr Henry Pan OAM and Emeritus Chairperson Dr Leng Tan have both served as volunteers for over 40 years and been honoured with numerous awards and commendations for their tireless work fostering harmony in NSW’s multicultural communities.

“CASS is dedicated to facilitating the delivery of services and activities with the goal of promoting diversity, inclusion, and harmony within multicultural communities,” said Henry Pan OAM.

“We are proud to be recognised as this year’s Business Excellence – Not for Profit Medal winner.”
