Dr Julie Lim has an applied linguistics and Asian studies background with more than twenty years’ experience in English language teaching and assessment in Australia and overseas. She currently lectures at the University of Technology, Sydney, on language education programs that specialise in training prospective English teachers.

Julie is an active volunteer and has delivered more than 100 volunteer hours of English language sessions to migrant learners to help them develop language skills for everyday living and work needs.

As an Australian with Chinese heritage, Julie’s language interests developed from heritage language learning in childhood, to foreign language studies in high school and university. She is keen to explore and advance our understanding of the linguistico-cultural challenges of people whose community, education or professional experiences are impacted by limited proficiency in or access to language.
