Hello and welcome to the September edition of our community stakeholder newsletter.
It was a pleasure to see many of our stakeholders, finalists, and winners at the 2022 Premier’s Multicultural Communication Awards (PMCA) earlier this month. The PMCAs acknowledge excellence in multicultural marketing and communications. Read more about this fabulous event below including ‘Navitas English,’ winners of the Business Excellence Corporate Award.
On 2 September, we relaunched our Regional Engagement Program. We would love you to get involved in this state-wide network so you can contribute to forums and discussions and connect with regional community. Register your interest below.
Our team is proud to witness many examples of community cohesion through festivals and events supported by our Stronger Together Festival and Events grants. We thank all our community groups who are hosting events throughout NSW. Read about these events below.
Multicultural NSW is partnering with local councils to see more street festivals and cultural celebrations by launching the $8M Stronger Together Local Council Major Festivals grants program. Please encourage your local council to check for eligibility and apply before 7 October on the link below.
This increase is made possible by the state government who are also committing a further $3M from 2021-2024 to support the growth of our COMPACT program. We’re delighted to announce ten new COMPACT partners bringing our total number of COMPACT partnerships to twenty-four, made up of over 80 organisations.
Since 2015, COMPACT has engaged with over 50,000 young people throughout NSW inspiring a new generation of community leaders to stand united against racism. The ‘In League In Harmony’ Gala Day is one of the many events held by the NRL to help young people become champions of harmony. Read about the Gala Day below.
As we head into the warmer months, it’s important to keep following NSW Health advice so we can continue to enjoy gatherings. Even though we are coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, we still need to be mindful of our health behaviours, especially as we start to travel. If you are planning a trip, check with your GP that your COVID-19 and travel vaccinations are up to date. You can also read about eligibility for anti-viral medicines below.
One of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic is that many of our communities are struggling with the rising cost of living. You can check your eligibility for vouchers and rebates using the Savings Finder mentioned further below.
With summer fast approaching, it’s important we acknowledge water safety as swimming activity increases. You can apply for the Active Kids vouchers to use on swimming lessons for school-aged children. Register for your vouchers at Service NSW and visit Swimming NSW for more information.
If you would like to attend a community forum to hear about topics that affect your community, email us to be added to the invitation list.
