Multicultural storytellers to join the stage at annual Premier’s Harmony Dinner

Storytellers from NSW’s culturally and linguistically diverse media and marketing industries will join the stage at the annual Premier’s Harmony Dinner with three new Multicultural Community Medals now open for nominations.

The Premier’s Harmony Dinner will be held on Wednesday, 12 March 2025 at Sydney’s International Convention Centre, where the Medals will be presented. It is one of the most anticipated events on the multicultural calendar, bringing together 1,600 leaders across community, faith, language school leadership, government, corporate and not-for-profit agencies.

The three awards recognise excellence in multicultural media and marketing, highlighting the vital role that stories and campaigns play in connecting with diverse audiences across NSW.

The categories are:

  • Best Report in Multicultural Media – recognising excellence in journalism for multicultural media (text, audio, and/or audio-visual report)
  • Multicultural Publication of the Year –recognising outstanding contribution of a multicultural media publication in informing and engaging its audience
  • Multicultural Marketing Campaign of the Year – recognising excellence in delivering a multicultural campaign.

Nominations open today (9 December 2024) and close Tuesday 14 January 2025. Previously, NSW’s multicultural media and marketing sectors were recognised through the Premier’s Multicultural Communications Awards (PMCAs) program.

With the elevation of these awards into the Multicultural Community Medals program, the PMCAs is now discontinued.

Since its inception in 2012, the Premier’s Harmony Dinner has become one of the most important events on the NSW calendar.

The annual gathering offers an opportunity for community leaders, advocates, and individuals from a wide range of cultural and faith groups to come together, share stories, and strengthen relationships across New South Wales.

Multicultural NSW Chief Executive Officer Joseph La Posta said:

“Multicultural journalists, marketers, and publishers play a crucial role in keeping our communities connected through language and cultural understanding.”

“Honouring them in front of the largest gathering of its kind in NSW is a fitting tribute to recognise the quality and importance of their work.”

“I encourage multicultural media and marketers to enter, and I thank them for their continued innovation in reaching new and diverse audiences.”

“The Premier’s Harmony Dinner is a standout event in NSW’s Multicultural March celebrations.

“There is no other event in the state that brings together 1,600 people from nearly every background to honour the contributions of their peers in making NSW a better place for all.”

“My advice is to secure your tickets early – they always sell out fast.”
