Little Wings are holding an International Women’s Day brunch in Coffs Harbour to celebrate women’s achievements, with a focus on empowering CALD and Indigenous women to advocate for their health.
Women have historically faced gender discrimination in healthcare, resulting in delayed access to care, misdiagnosis, and neglect.
Due to intersectional discrimination, CALD and Indigenous women are more likely to face dismissal from healthcare providers but are less likely to challenge any neglect or misdiagnoses due to cultural norms that place high value on doctors’ opinions.
This event aims to challenge these notions and encourage greater self-advocacy for women seeking healthcare advice.
