Service NSW Business Bureau

The Service NSW Business Bureau provides one-on-one support for every stage of your business. The Business Bureau can also connect you with tailored advice in a range of languages.

Independent multicultural advisors can guide you on how to do business in NSW. They can also give advice on topics like business planning, marketing, cash flow and more.

Business owner Faten is one of thousands of customers who have received help from the Service NSW Business Bureau.
In 2016, Faten started a diploma in banking with TAFE NSW after arriving in Australia as a refugee. Using her previous accounting experience from Syria, she decided to start a tutoring business.

Faten reached out to the Service NSW Business Bureau. She was connected to independent advisor Anas, who helped her understand franchising opportunities, business structures and the accounting environment in NSW.

With Anas’s guidance in her first language, Arabic, Faten bought a tutoring franchise, and opened North Shore Tutoring. Since opening in 2021, Faten’s business has already grown and has moved to larger premises. Anas helped Faten understand leasing rights and obligations to make the move.

Faten said, “I’m so grateful to get these services. Before, it was confusing when I thought of starting my business, then Anas put me on the right path. I clearly see what I need to do and it’s much better now. Now I can say I have a business.”

Faten is looking forward to growing her business even more. With Anas’s help, Faten is now in the process of applying for a business financing program for refugees.
