NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS)

STARTTS works with people who have experienced persecution, war, violence or human rights violations before coming to Australia, and are having difficulties as a result. STARTTS can help people no matter when or how they arrived in Australia.

Since 1988, STARTTS has assisted over 93,000 people from around 180 countries to heal the scars of torture and refugee trauma and rebuild their lives in Australia.

STARTTS provides a range of services such as counselling and community engagement to people with refugee and refugee-like backgrounds at outreach locations in Sydney, and across NSW including Armidale, Auburn, Blacktown, Carramar, Coffs Harbour, Dee Why, Fairfield, Liverpool, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga and Wollongong.
