Nick is passionate about fostering strong links and engagement between diverse communities. He sees his role as Chairperson as an opportunity to continue championing for multicultural issues and engagement.

Nick serves on the Board of the Commission for International Justice and Accountability and is the current chair of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veterans Suicide (Australia). Nick has held many roles internationally, all of which required cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse environments.

He served 35 years in the NSW Police Force, the last 10 years as Deputy Commissioner. For some 15 years, Nick led the NSW Police Force’s multicultural engagement policies and programs as the organisational spokesperson or sponsor for all related issues.

Nick holds a Master in Public Policy and Administration from Charles Sturt University and an honorary doctorate from Western Sydney University. He has received numerous awards, including the Australian Police Medal, the National Medal and the Overseas Humanitarian Service Medal. Nick was born in Upper (Southern) Egypt, in Asyut, and migrated to Australia when he was 12.
