A collective of young leaders committed to building a bright future for multicultural NSW
The Multicultural Youth Network (MYN) is a collective of young leaders committed to building a bright future for a multicultural Australia. The members of the MYN are committed to working together to promote the positive value of cultural diversity and to foster acceptance and respect of this diversity.
The MYN provides a forum for young people with a personal commitment to the values of multiculturalism that are keen to share their ideas with other young people and with all levels of government and the community.
The MYN is an initiative of Multicultural NSW and is supported by Multicultural NSW staff. The thoughts and opinions of the MYN are conveyed directly to the Multicultural NSW Advisory Board.
The two main activities coordinated by the MYN include the annual Youth Leaders Day and the MYN Networking Evening.
The Youth Leaders Day - IDEATION has been held since 2006. Throughout the day, presenters from culturally, religiously, and linguistically diverse communities of NSW present to students their projects and approaches to addressing issues. IDEATION gives young people a platform to interact with leaders and activists. MYN members are instrumental in the planning and implementation of the day.
The MYN Youth Networking Evening is an annual event initiated in 2011. Young people from different communities and youth organisations from around Sydney attended the event. Members of the MYN were involved with the planning and running of the event, which attracts up to 100 people.
